Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened a crucial meeting with the Pakistan Dairy Association (PDA), spearheaded by CEO of Fauji Foods Ltd, Mr. Usman Zaheer, at the Finance Division.
In his address to the delegation, Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb underscored the pivotal role of the dairy industry in bolstering agricultural GDP and catalyzing economic development. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fostering a conducive business environment, particularly within the dairy sector, which presents lucrative prospects for expanded exports. Encouraging executives to capitalize on this momentum, the Finance Minister advocated for initiatives benefiting both large-scale producers and small-scale farmers.
Throughout the session, industry leaders reiterated their commitment to leveraging the surging dairy export trend as a pivotal avenue for growth and revenue augmentation. Emphasizing the necessity of an enabling export environment, they urged the government to consider tax exemptions for dairy exports to further incentivize sectoral expansion. Responding to these concerns, the Federal Minister instructed relevant authorities to formulate a proposal in accordance with merit criteria.
The meeting concluded with mutual agreement between the government and the Pakistan Dairy Association (PDA) to enhance the sector’s export prowess, foster innovation, and elevate practices to align with international benchmarks. Both entities expressed confidence in the dairy industry’s potential to significantly contribute to Pakistan’s economic prosperity.
