Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir delivered a powerful message against terrorism, underlining the Pakistan Army’s commitment to eradicating this menace from the nation. His speech not only condemned the acts of terrorists but also highlighted the unity between the military and the Pakistani populace, particularly the youth, in this ongoing battle.

General Munir sharply criticized terrorists, stating unequivocally that they have no connection to religion. He emphasized that these individuals are merely agents of chaos, misusing religious doctrines to justify their actions. “These so-called terrorists are not followers of any faith; they are simply anarchists,” he said, quoting from the Holy Quran to reinforce his point that Islam mandates the elimination of such elements, except for those who seek mercy, repent, and surrender to the state.

The COAS praised the unwavering support from the nation and especially the youth, calling their involvement both inspiring and a sign of hope for Pakistan’s future. “We believe the future of the nation is in safe hands,” he remarked, acknowledging the vital role of young Pakistanis in supporting national defense efforts. This interaction was not just an endorsement of the military’s actions but also a call for continued national unity. “We always fight as Pakistanis, and we love our country,” General Munir stated, reinforcing the collective national identity over any divisive ideology.

The Army Chief further elucidated on the ideological battle against groups like Fitna-al-Khawarij, whom he described as perverted, aiming to impose distorted values on Pakistan. He made it clear that the Pakistan Army would not allow these groups to undermine national integrity or impose their ideologies. “What kind of Shariah or religion are these Khawarij talking about? We will never let them impose their outdated ideology on our country,” he asserted, linking this fight directly to the preservation of Pakistan’s cultural and religious values.

General Munir also touched upon Islam’s teachings regarding the respect for women, stating that the nation would not stand for any diminishment in this regard. He stressed the importance of upholding Pakistan’s values and traditions against extremist ideologies, ensuring that Pakistan’s identity remains intact.

Acknowledging the efforts in regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where the fight against terrorism is particularly intense, General Munir praised the local populations’ resilience. “The brave people of these areas stand like an iron wall against terrorists,” he noted, highlighting the daily battles fought by the armed forces to maintain peace and security.
