Iran’s Supreme Leader Urges Muslim States to Sever Political Ties with Israel

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has urged Muslim states with political ties to Israel to temporarily sever these connections. This appeal comes weeks after Khamenei advocated for an Islamic embargo on oil and food supplies to Israel.

Khamenei emphasized the unacceptable nature of some Islamic governments condemning Israeli actions in assemblies while others refrained from doing so. He reiterated that the primary responsibility of Islamic governments should be to disconnect Israel from energy and goods.

“Islamic governments should at least cut off political ties to Israel for a limited time,” added Khamenei.

During a joint summit involving members of the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League in Saudi Arabia’s capital on November 11, Muslim states did not reach an agreement to impose comprehensive sanctions on Israel, as initially proposed by Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi.

Khamenei made these statements while attending an exhibition showcasing the “latest achievements” of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Aerospace Force. This includes the Fattah 2, touted as a new version of Iran’s first hypersonic missile unveiled in June.

The missile, named Fattah 2, is claimed to be Iran’s first domestically made hypersonic ballistic missile. Iran asserts that it has the capability to bypass the most advanced anti-ballistic missile systems deployed by the United States and Israel.
