The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian mission supported by several nations. Pakistan reaffirmed that it does not recognize Israel and is working closely with allied countries to ensure the safety and immediate release of its citizens on board.

According to the MOFA spokesperson, the safety and well-being of Pakistani nationals aboard the flotilla remain a top priority. The ministry stressed that international partners in the region are actively engaged to secure the swift return of the detained individuals.

Reaffirming its longstanding policy, Pakistan highlighted that it does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel. Therefore, Islamabad is coordinating with friendly countries in the Middle East and beyond to safeguard its nationals.

The MOFA spokesperson explained, “As Pakistan does not recognize Israel, we are working with international partners to ensure the safe and immediate release of our citizens. Their security is of paramount importance.”

This policy stance is consistent with Pakistan’s decades-old support for the Palestinian cause and opposition to Israeli actions in the occupied territories.

On September 16, 2025, Pakistan joined 15 other countries in issuing a joint statement expressing concern over the flotilla’s security. The Global Sumud Flotilla was described as a humanitarian mission that symbolized international solidarity and moral resolve to support oppressed communities.

The interception by Israeli forces has raised alarm across multiple nations, with many calling it a serious breach of international law. Pakistan emphasized that such actions undermine global humanitarian efforts and further escalate tensions in the region.

The flotilla, carrying aid and activists from around the world, was part of a broader effort to highlight the humanitarian plight of Palestinians. It was designed to draw international attention to ongoing blockades and restrictions that have severely impacted civilian populations.

Pakistan underscored that targeting such humanitarian missions contradicts global principles of justice and peace. Islamabad called for international accountability and urged the global community to take immediate notice of Israel’s actions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that constant diplomatic efforts are underway with partner states to safeguard Pakistani nationals. These efforts include direct communication with regional governments, coordination through multilateral platforms, and continuous monitoring of the situation.

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a swift and safe return of its citizens, emphasizing that their safety is the highest concern for the government.

In addition, the ministry urged the United Nations and other international bodies to play their role in protecting humanitarian missions and preventing further violations of international law.

By condemning Israel’s interception, Pakistan once again highlighted its broader stance on human rights and adherence to international law. The government stated that obstructing humanitarian assistance goes against universally accepted norms and should be met with strong diplomatic resistance.

Furthermore, Pakistan stressed that solidarity with oppressed peoples remains a cornerstone of its foreign policy. This includes supporting Palestinians in their struggle for dignity, self-determination, and freedom from unlawful occupation.
