Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, and Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, held high-level discussions to bolster security cooperation between the two nations. The meeting, which took place at the Saudi Ministry of Interior headquarters in Riyadh, marked a significant step in strengthening the historic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
During the talks, the two ministers explored measures to deepen collaboration in addressing shared security challenges. A key focus of the meeting was the fight against drug smuggling, a critical issue for both countries. The discussions also encompassed a range of topics of mutual interest, reflecting the broad scope of the bilateral relationship.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud welcomed Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his delegation, emphasizing the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to further enhance the already robust security cooperation between the two countries. He highlighted the shared commitment to strengthening these ties in light of the longstanding relationship between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi underscored the deep-rooted and respectful bond that every Pakistani holds with Saudi Arabia. He expressed profound gratitude for the kingdom’s unwavering support during Pakistan’s challenging times, stating, “Saudi Arabia has visionary leadership and always good wishes for the people of Pakistan.”
Naqvi praised the Saudi leadership for its commitment to regional stability and its continued support for Pakistan, both in economic and security matters. “We are grateful for Saudi Arabia’s invaluable assistance, which has played a significant role in helping Pakistan navigate difficult periods,” he said.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials from both sides. Representing Pakistan were Ambassador Ahmad Farooq, Director General of Passports and Immigration Mustafa Jamal Qazi, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Rifat Mukhtar Rajab. From the Saudi side, Deputy Minister of Interior Dr. Nasser Al-Daoud, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Dr. Khalid Al-Batal, and Director of Public Security Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami participated in the discussions.
The presence of senior officials signaled the importance both nations place on the meeting. Their input and expertise further enriched the discussions, ensuring that actionable strategies were devised to address the pressing security challenges faced by the two countries.
A significant part of the dialogue centered on combating drug smuggling. Both ministers acknowledged the global nature of this menace and the need for joint efforts to dismantle smuggling networks. Enhanced intelligence sharing and coordinated operations were proposed as key steps to address this issue effectively.
While security remained the focal point of the meeting, the discussions also touched on other areas of collaboration. This included exploring avenues to strengthen law enforcement capabilities and improve mechanisms for border security.
Both ministers agreed that regular engagement and consultations are essential to maintain momentum in these areas. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both nations to uphold regional stability and foster a safe and secure environment for their citizens.
