In a successful operation against illegal trade, Customs Enforcement Peshawar intercepted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of foreign liquor through a luxury vehicle. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Collector Customs, Dera Ismail Khan-II, and on the information provided by Collector Customs Enforcement Peshawar.

The incident took place at around 12:30 p.m. at the Aman Meela Check Post, where customs staff stopped a Toyota Hilux Revo vehicle bearing registration number ASC-406. The vehicle was approaching the checkpoint when officials decided to conduct a thorough inspection.
Upon examination, the customs staff recovered a substantial quantity of foreign-origin liquor concealed inside the vehicle. The seizure reflects ongoing efforts by Pakistani customs authorities to prevent the illegal import and distribution of contraband goods.
Both the smuggled liquor and the Toyota Hilux Revo used in the attempt were confiscated under the Customs Act, 1969, ensuring legal action against the offenders.
The estimated value of the seized liquor is approximately PKR 2.4 million, while the vehicle used for smuggling is valued at around PKR 8 million, bringing the total estimated value of confiscated items to PKR 10.4 million.
Officials highlighted that such operations are part of a broader strategy to curb smuggling and protect the local market from illegal goods that evade taxation and regulatory control. They added that intelligence-led interventions and vigilant monitoring at key check posts are critical to maintaining law and order along major trade and transit routes.
The successful interception of the luxury vehicle demonstrates the high level of coordination and efficiency of the Customs Enforcement team, as well as their commitment to enforcing Pakistan’s customs laws and regulations. Authorities also stressed that public cooperation and timely reporting of suspicious activities greatly aid enforcement efforts.
This operation underscores the persistent efforts of Customs Enforcement Peshawar in combating smuggling and illegal trade. By seizing both high-value contraband and the vehicle used for smuggling, authorities have sent a strong message to individuals and networks attempting to circumvent customs regulations.
No additional details regarding the suspects involved in the smuggling attempt have been released. However, the case will proceed under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969, with further investigation expected to identify those responsible and prevent future attempts.
The operation at Aman Meela Check Post serves as a reminder of the vital role of customs authorities in Pakistan’s border management and law enforcement framework, ensuring the country’s trade policies and legal requirements are strictly upheld.
