The Embassy of Pakistan in Beirut successfully evacuated 170 Pakistani workers who were employed on the construction project of the new United States Embassy Beirut.
The evacuation was carried out as part of emergency measures to ensure the safety of Pakistani nationals amid the deteriorating security situation in Lebanon.
According to the Foreign Office Pakistan, the process was conducted smoothly with the cooperation of the company responsible for the construction project.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi confirmed that the relocation was organised to protect Pakistani labourers working in Beirut.
He stated that the embassy worked closely with relevant authorities and the company involved to ensure the safe evacuation of the workers.
Officials at the Pakistani embassy emphasised that the welfare and protection of overseas Pakistanis remain their top priority. They reiterated that the mission continues to monitor the situation and stands ready to assist Pakistani citizens whenever needed.
The evacuation decision was taken after escalating military tensions in the region. Recent missile strikes carried out by Israel on Lebanese territory intensified security concerns.
The attacks followed ongoing military confrontations involving the United States and Iran, which have further destabilised the region.
The conflict involving Iran has now entered its second week, resulting in hundreds of casualties and growing global economic uncertainty.
The ongoing crisis has also had wider economic consequences. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted global oil supply routes and raised concerns about energy security worldwide.
Officials noted that the embassy will continue to closely monitor developments in Lebanon and provide support to Pakistani nationals if the security situation further deteriorates.
